Tide times — Ytri-Tunga (seal beach)

Tide tables · nearest station: Ólafsvík · updates automatically

A golden shell-sand beach on the south side of Snæfellsnes and one of Iceland’s best-known seal haul-outs. Come at low tide, when the rocks emerge and the seals haul out on them close to shore.

⚠️ CautionKeep at least 50 m from the seals and move quietly — the colony is sensitive, especially during pupping season in late spring and early summer.
