Tide times — Reynisfjara (black sand beach)

Tide tables · nearest station: Vík í Mýrdal · updates automatically

Reynisfjara is the famous black sand beach just west of Vík í Mýrdal, known for its basalt columns, the Reynisdrangar sea stacks and powerful surf. See the tide times so you know when the beach is widest and when the sea is highest.

⚠️ CautionReynisfjara is extremely dangerous. Sneaker waves arrive without warning, surge far up the beach and can sweep people out to sea. They are driven by ocean swell — not the tide — so a tide table does not predict them. Keep well back from the water, never turn your back on the waves and follow the warning signs and lights on site.
