Grótta is a lighthouse and nature reserve at the tip of Seltjarnarnes, popular for birdwatching, northern lights and walks. The causeway to the island floods at high tide — use the tide table here to work out when it is safe to cross.

⚠️ CautionThe causeway to Grótta floods around high tide and people get stranded — cross at low tide and check the high-tide time here before you set out. The island is also closed during nesting season, 1 May–15 July due to breeding arctic terns.
