About the data & disclaimer

Tide is a free tide forecast and tide table for harbours around the world: high and low tide, spring and neap tides, plus sun and moon — more than 2,200 harbours in more than 140 countries.

Worldwide: computed from the tidal constants of tide gauges in TICON-4 (Hart-Davis, Dettmering & Seitz 2025, DGFI-TUM, CC BY 4.0). Heights in m above the lowest astronomical tide (LAT), and tidal ranges, from the tidal characteristics of Hart-Davis, Sulzbach & Talke (CC BY 4.0); LAT is not always the chart datum used in that country.

Names and places: Japanese names in the local script from the Japan Meteorological Agency tide-station table (気象庁, Public Data License 1.0), matched to harbours by position and processed by Tide; other local-script names, the spelling of harbour names and the cities in the search from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0).

Coastlines: the globe is drawn from Natural Earth (public domain); the fine coastlines of Iceland, Japan and New Zealand from GSHHG (Wessel & Smith, University of Hawai‘i, LGPL).

Iceland: Reykjavík is computed from TICON-4 constants and raised by 2.182 m, the Icelandic Coast Guard's mean sea level above the zero of their tide tables. Every other harbour is derived from Reykjavík by a fixed time offset and height mapping fitted to Tables I and II. Heights in m above chart datum; low water can fall below zero. Times are usually within 10 minutes of the Coast Guard's official tables; the largest differences all fall on neap tides, when the range is smallest and the exact minute matters least.

Computed from the motion of the moon and sun. Weather and wind can change the actual sea level. Not for navigation. Times are the local time of each harbour.
