In short: Tide collects no personal data, does not track you across apps or websites, and never sends your location off the device. Everything the app works with is stored locally, on your own device.
If you use the "Near me" button to find the closest harbour, the app asks for permission to use the device's location (only while the app is in use). Your location is compared against known harbours directly on the device itself to find the nearest one — it is never sent to us, or to any third party, in whole or in part.
Your chosen harbour, language, theme and notification settings are stored locally on your device (and shared with the widgets and Lock Screen via Apple's App Group mechanism, which is likewise entirely on-device). None of this ever leaves your device.
Tide and low-tide notifications are computed and scheduled directly on the device, from data already contained in the app. No new data is sent from the device to produce them.
The app's only network request fetches an updated tide dataset from tide.is, so tide tables stay accurate over time. That request carries no personal identifiers — it is exactly the same as loading an ordinary web page.
Tide contains no analytics software, no advertising SDKs, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking — from Apple or any third party. The app never asks for tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency), simply because no such tracking takes place.
Tide requires no sign-in and no user account. There is no backend service that stores information about you.
Because the app collects no personal data regardless of the user's age, nothing beyond the above applies specifically to children.
